I used to have exactly this problem with my last 340 and I never got to the root of the it. - it used to come and go, seeming fine for a couple of months and then doing it every time out. I used to find myself pulling into exactly the same bus stop every time I went to work.

That said it may be worth checking out the usual suspects - carb cover screws, hoses, manifold nuts etc. A good blast through the jets with some carb cleaner can`t hurt either.

I had trouble with an idle solenoid recently - it appeared to work fine when tested off the vehicle. Another poster suggested that they can wear at the tip and stick despite seeming OK and clunking on and off. A new one cured my problem.

Have a read through the posts on the forum - this sort of thing seems to come up all the time...

I'm guessing this is the 1.4
Yep suspect the idle solenoid. Pull the jet brassy thingy off it and clean the moving part inside thoroughly with WD-40/Carb cleaner. COnnect up a 12V supply across it using the electrical bit as + and the casing as earth. If it still doesn't withdraw, get the finest emery paper (1200 or even finer)you can and carefully polish it up.

Hope that helps

The idle solenoid will not stop the engine unless you release the throttle pedal, otherwise it should be possible to start the car and keep it running on high revs (>1500).

This sounds like carb icing / condensation. Is your area cold now?

Check the preheater pipes from the exhaust or the thermostaic flap on the air filter. Its common for these to be damaged or even missing.

If its the pancake air filter the preheater pipe will be facing out the bottom on the intake tube. If its the side car / seperate filter it sticks out the side on the tube like on the 360s. In both cases the junction is where the flap is, and you see its orientation from slot. Can't remember which way it should go.
