Default settings!

Hi eveybody,

Would anyone happen to know what torque setting the front strut brace has to be tightened?

Also need to know how tight the wheels have to be.

look forward to the replies.

Roy

Default RE: settings as follows

Strut brace:
Top suspension tower fixing nuts X6 = 40Nm

Brace end bolts x2 = 25Nm

Wheel studs for 17" alloys = 110Nm

Retighten all brace securing bolts after 9K miles.

Hi Simon,

cheers for the reply, I have retightened all the bolts to the specified settings you stated. I can now hear clunking, not much but a little. Is this normal?

Volvo have said the anti-roll bar links are worn.

What do you think?

Tightening has made a difference to the handling, the strut brace is working a lot better.

cheers

Roy

Simon

I have my (Volvo OEM)strut brace set up the other way round, i.e. 25Nm for the tower nuts, 40Nm for the brace ends. I've checked the (admittedly not very clear)instructions and that seems to be right. What do you think?

Regards
James

I think you're right, so it looks like I've done it back to front on my car - sorry everyone!

Thanks for clearing that up Simon, I will readjust the settings.

I have got it the wronge way round it won't put pressure on the suspension will it?

I won't be able to do it until tommorow.

cheers

Do you think the average mechanic would have torqued up the suspension turret nuts?

Neither do I - don't worry, it'll be fine.
