Default Adding extra side lights to a 900/bulb failure circuit help

I was thinking of wiring up 5watt sidelight bulbs to where the foglights sit. Using the 21w/5w filament bulbs, If I did both sides and split them using the splice connectors, would the sudden drop on current consumption trigger the bulb failure circuit, even if the bulbs were both of same brand/age.
I would like to know how the bulb failure circuit is activated- Does it detect a current imbalance or does it detect a lack of current flow.
Im not sure if I sound correct, but I'm sure a sparky would know what I am talking about.!!

Cheers.

Hi,

I believe (and read here somewhere) that the system works on current imbalance.

Better info in the FAQ:
FAQ: Bulb Warning Sensor....

Des. . .

It works on resistance, I've added extra lights to my 740 at the rear and it works the bulb fail when one goes out. I took the power from the exsisting circuit though, as ti was only 2 x 5W bulbs i wired in.
