Default Ventilation Unit lighting

My 95 GT has air con and the Ventilation Unit. There are no lights on the unit (although the unit seems to work ok) so you can't see what you are selecting at night. Anyone got any idea 1) if there should be lighting on the unit, 2)where the bulbs are, and 3) how to get at them?

The VEM (Ventilation Electric Module) as it's called has 2 small 1,2w bulbs on each side. To get at them you have to remove the unit from the dash. Not necassary to pull it completly, you can leave the heater slider cable attached.
Loosen the screws with which it's attached to the metal frame. Then you have to push the vem inside and down to unhook it at the back. After that you can pull it a few inches as the slider cable is attached at the top.
On the pic you can see the bulbs on each side. Whith a small screw driver it's possible to remove them with the cover still on. The're hold in place with small plastic tabs, push them aside with a small screw driver and pull the bulbs. It's a fiddly job! On the link below click on electric system and then on ventilation sometimes doesn't work. To remove the dash click on body&interior and then replacing dashboard bulbs
