Default Help: EOLYS oil additive

Hello,
wondering if anyone could advise me on following issue!
just had a 3 year service on my V50 2.0D (EuroIV) at an independent garage. The only thing they did`nt do is the EOLYS top up.
Now the independent garage has some Citroen/Peugeot EOLYS (DPX42) additive; the question is is it OK to use? the Volvo stuff is £65!!
any advice would be appreciated.

read on another thread that there is a gauge reset to do,when the fluid tank is topped up, does anybody know anything about that?

The car has done 26000 miles, owned it from new. decided to go with the independent this year because service costs were £450 against £150

thanks in advance

If the EOLYS is not done the car will break down before the next service as the tank runs dry .
Volvo do not state which grade additive they use ...
Yes the level gauge has to be reset at the dealer after a top up .

is the the gauge part of the fluid container? and does it need to be reset via computer or some special tool?

I wonder how much a dealer will charge me for a top up?

My dealer charged me £110 for parts and labour. To just top up and reset system.

well, my first quote for parts and labour was £180!

I have since got hold of the top up kit from another forum member (thanks!!) and plan to take it to another dealer for the labour.

should still be a saving of about £180 in servicing costs!
