V40: key error try again
Hi!
Obviously first post so excuse me if I've put it in the wrong place. My Dad has a 2003 V40 diesel estate. RAC had to pick it up yesterday after it refused to start with the error "key error try again". Both sets of keys gave same error. Steering lock is on (and you can't get it off). There is electrical power - lights work etc. Car just back from a main dealer service. there is a thread on this forum where it's mentioned that it might be the unit you put the key into clicky but I just wanted to see if there has been any further developments? Especially the comment about it tends to happen after a service / key is near the pollen filter. Is that true on this model? Thanks for your help! Dave |

Its a V40 in the new S40/V50 forum?
Anyway if it is a V40 change the antenna ring around the ignituion switch first ...This pickes up and transmits the signal to the immobiliser in the ignition key ..
