Yep I thought that, but I think it actually looks better as the nose and tail of the Jag are very awkward IMO.

I'm maybe re-visiting an old thread, but I problem with my S60 2003 D5SE, when the doors are unlocked and I go to open the rear driver's side door, the button flips down,in fact now it won't even open from the inside! Any similar probs with yours?

Sounds like the old door lock issue...may be worth you posting this in the S60 section as this thread is about a car whose door operation is still a mystery....

Not for me
Hmm ... first off imho the 'wedge' shape isn't Volvo, it's Alfa Romeo. I'm with the badge commentators too ... big badges look weird. Spaced out lettering looks lovely ... on the bonnet of a 1970 Ford Escort. I don't find it horrendous, but not particularly attractive either. It's a contemporary design. It could just as easily be the new Hyundai Coupe. If all of the identifying badges were taken off, would it still be a Volvo? I think not.
I liked Richard Horbury's efforts a lot ... it took a while to get used to his back - end treatments ( S80 ) but imho he struck the right blend between 'rounded modern' and 'square classical' that defines the marque, rather than completely dropping the Volvo 'shape'. Then again, design is nothing if not subjective, so it's just my opinion remember! Last but not least, I might add that ( in my opinion! ) Volvo stylists have, in recent times, been at a crossroads. It's the same crossroads that RR, BMW, Mercedes and a plethora of others are at, and have addressed with varying degrees of success. That is, updating boxy shapes. Some go slightly rounded, which can easily look yukk, and others drop the whole concept altogether and chase the 'sqeezed out of a tube' look which ruins the marque's identity for many. This particular concept looks to me like the new Mondeo. Oh, and there are no rubbing strips either! ;-) Cheers, Tony.

I mean Peter Horbury ... anytime I get confused about a first name for some reason I always assume he's Richard ;-)

for me sticking with the V70 front end an a similar rear to the new S80 could have looked great in my eyes...or the new S40 front and S80 rear... it looks like the new vauxhall corsa at the front an it'll probably end up looking like a mondeo or a vauxhall insignia/jaguar XF at the back...which look quite dreadful!
