Exclamation Fuel Flap release

Hi all, the fuel flap on my mums 57 2.4d v70 is stuck, it half open/shut and now won't release or shut. Is there a manual release? It maybe the cold but we don't know?

Cheers

Rob

lol i had to use mine today as it goes! Got to tesco's and realised that i couldnt open me flap!! Went home and looked in the owners manual!!!!

Must be the cold weather freezing them up or something. Dont know if its free'ed itself up or not. Take it after you've manually opened, it will reset to lock as usual 10mins after you lock the car??

Hi all thanks to 4 forty and Juzzaman, i'll have to look in the manual. I did mange to open it by pressing and holding the release button on the drivers side however, it still doesn't look properly. It feels like it won't just all the way but the car does remote lock.

Cheers

Rob

Same thing happened to my 2003 V70 and as I was making the claim about a mile after the 60k warranty ran out Volvo refused to do it foc but they did disable it free of charge so at least I could get the fuel in , if yours is a 57 model then you have still got warranty on it ? The release motor fails and you need to renew the whole thing which is expensive from Volvo and you see them secondhand on ebay for £15 although I cant see the point in the sophistication of the motor mechanism when the plastic fuel flap lid can be flipped open in a second with a screwdriver by anyone wanting to steal fuel .

Update, it appears that due to the extreme cold some of the plastic fitting on the bracket appear to have become brittle and are not sitting correctly in their fittings. We shall be contacting volvo tomorrow.

Cheers
