Hi all, I'm new this forum (and Volvos in general). I'm looking at buying a V70 D5 on an 05 plate. The garage has it listed as the 185bhp model, and it has the grey engine cover, but when I look at the service history, it has been serviced every 12.5k and the service book is for the Euro III engine. In the V5, it is listed as a "V70 D5 SE E4" and has 179G/Km CO2.
I'm totally confused, as I thought the 185bhp model was the Euro IV engine, which requires servicing every 18k miles. I'm guessing that either the wrong service book has been issued, and it should have been serviced every 18k; or it is the Euro III engine and there actually has 163bhp. Any thoughts?! Thanks in advance. PS, I have a link to the website where the car is advertised, which shows the service book, V5, etc but wasn't sure whether I could post it |

Does the V5 not quote Max.Net Power (kW)?
For a 185 it would be 136 kW, for a 163 it would be 120 kW. I assume the garage ins't a main dealer? If you contact a volvo dealer with the reg no they could tell you as well.

They only show a snippet of the V5, which doesn't include the max power.

Power (if printed) is listed further down the V5 - under P.2

I would say from the CO2 emissions that it looks like the 163bhp one.
I may be wrong though. your best off checking with volvo or the the Dvla website. http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/Evl...ehicle+Enquiry Hope this helps. |

I have a 163 and my emissions are showing 171g/km so ignore my last post.
Your emissions are 179g/km |

The code on the windscreen will have the engine of your car listed in it. Check the Volvo Owners Club pages for details of how to read it. (At the top of the page.
Volvo change their service intervals every so often to suit their latest engine and oil technology. That is probably the original service interval of the car. I belive the original 185bhp D5 was a euro 3 engine. The new 185bhp D5 has many differences. The emissions vary with the spec of the car. ie more goodies = more weight= more emissions. Roy

163 = 12k or 12 months. 185 = 18k or 12 months. No other service intervals are relevant for that model.
Paul.
