With Volvo build quality slipping and poor aftersales its hard to see any benefits to owning a "newer" Volvo

Volvo in the North West
Any Volvo drivers who feel they have nowhere to go now Stratstones have closed, look no further than Southport Auto Centre located in the town centre of Southport.
We have the Volvo VIDA diagnostic system as supplied to main dealers. With over 35 years of dealership experience, we are able to service & MOT your Volvo without invalidating the warranty at realistic prices, not main dealer prices! We also have a small selection of pre-owned vehicles. We offer a free loan car service if required. Contact us on: www.southportautocentre.co.uk 01704 884418 |

Stratstone Alternatives!
Hi all,
I have to agree that since the good old 'Speeds' family business was taken over by Stratstone, employees left, standards slipped and prices escalated! I used their locations at Burton (now closed), Stafford, Stoke and Crewe (now closed) for my S60 and S80 servicing and shuddered at every bill! In the north west area Rybrook Warrington and Chester are still there for sales showrooms and parts counters, but for servicing and repairs in the Staffordshire and Cheshire area I have to recommend 'Swedish Car Care' at Stoke on Trent. The owner, Terry is ex-Volvo dealership trained with many years of experience and knowledge. He is contactable on 01782 594411. He is also sensible with his labour rate and parts pricing (genuine Volvo) he has all of the Volvo diagnostic equipment and is always very busy. Paul |

I can confirm
They are definitely staying, ordered a part there last friday (31st October 2008) and asked them if they were closing, NO was the answer I got. Told them there was a rumour on Volvo forum UK that they were closing! Salesman looked very puzzled about that.

You pose this question as if you already know the answer !! He always uses diagnostics and required engine management downloads when my car is serviced, but to confirm your question, it would be best to speak to him.
I have mentioned Paul as a prefared alternative to the "franchised" Volvo dealers, and personally speaking, I would chose him over and above any of the "franchised" dealers.

i am one of the people who are out of a job due to the closeure of the stratone volvo site in stockport.
i say good riddens becuase they are an awfull company to work for and the way they treat the customers is horrible ie you have pay an upliffted price on all parts just so pendragon can make a few more pennies, the cars you buy of there sales pithes wont have genuine volvo parts fitted if the part can be got from a motor factors cheaper. Lets just hope volvo open something up that is run by a real company |

hi Dave
Are you the Dave from parts dept? remember me shimon?? Anyway, it seems Stratstone are closing all their volvo dealerships. not sure if this was caused by their poor customer service and them falling out with volvo and volvo pulling the plug. given the number of volvo dealerships affected by this, I wouldnt expect volvo UK to be standing by letting this happen. Im sure they are in talks and open to offers from potential suitors to buy these dealerships. I cant see this many volvo dealers just being allowed to disappear.... |
