Looks nice that, but that red really doesn't suit the Mk2's!

A member of my family once had a sort of yellowish orrange 343 on an R Reg. It was quite a loud colour, but it looked good on that car. I have often thought about that car, but I haven't seen another one the same.
I have now edited this post, because I have found pictures that show the colour that I mean. Ian. Last edited by AUTOMAN; Oct 11th, 2008 at 18:41. |

Wonder what he means by the 'box being horrible to use?
I know the belts and pulleys box is very, vey different from the 'ordinary' auto box, wonder if the seller just doesn't know the difference, and the box is doing just what all the variomatic boxes do?

As I have said elsewhere on the forum, I have owned several Daf's and loved them. I used to know a chap that occassionally drove the 343 that I have reffered to in this post and he was forever playing with the gears while driving.

because of the ignorance of the dealer about variomatic someone has got themselves a bargain.
I'm always flabbergasted at the general prejudace abo0ut CVT especially from the motor trade themselves. It really is a very simple principle - I wonder how many Daf's, 66/340s have been scrapped because mechanics have refused to work on the variomatics - probably loads. The good news for enthusiasts is that because of this you can pick up a variomatic for sweety money and they make excellent first time classics. |
