Default Washer filler

This is such a simple problem someone must have had this before!
I have had my '98 v70 AWD for 9 months. I have always been surprised how little washer fluid I have been able to add when topping up. A couple of months ago I noticed the low washer light always comes on when accelerating and now it is on 70% of the time but I cannot add any more fluid. I have finally realised that the filler is not draining into the resrvoir, the reservoir must be large and I have gradually being emptying it since I owned the car!
As the bonnet on the AWD is fairly cluttered it is not easy to see how to find the problem. I am tempted to just pull the filler upwards and hope that it is a push fit into the reservoir and will be able to see the problem. Does anyone have any advise on this?

if you pull the funnel of the reservoir up hard it will disconnect from the main tank then feel inside the hole and pull the filter up and out.

mine was full of crap and yours will probably be the same, the volvo p/no for a new one is 6800092.

Thanks. Tried this, the filter was covered in black slimy mould and was completely waterproof! Scrubbed it and can now get some water in.

I'd put a tiny bit of bleach in your screenwash for a bit to kill off all the mould - it won't affect the paintwork provided you don't go mad with the stuff!

Something that used to get used when I used to work with Bell & Howell enveloping machines, was a little bit of Milton in the water reservoir to kill of funky stuff from growing.

So long as it's well diluted, it shouldn't affect your paint or metalwork.
