NN Railway - September 14th 2008
I have been talking to the NNR today, and have provisionally mentioned Sept 14th to them as a possible date.
This date is OK with the Railway, but they can't really do a Group Discount ticket unless I can confirm the exact numbers in advance, which I suspect would be impossible, with everyone's varying committments, so you would have to be prepared to pay the 'standard' prices, or the 'standard' family ticket if you're coming with children. Parking is not easy at Weybourne, where the locomotive sheds and workshops are, and although there is a public car park at Sheringham, its very expensive (£1.00 an hour!), so the best option would be the railways car park at Holt. This is 'free' but they ask for a contribution of £1.00 a car (for as long as you want) to help the costs because we have to lease the car park land off the Health Authority who own it. I would probably be able to do tours round the workshops for anyone interested (sensible dress, no sandals Mac (!)), smallish parties, maybe max six at a time, especially if there are children, because it IS a working workshop, not an exhibit, so all sorts could be going on. I'm going to post this on Swedish Car, RWD and the VOC forums as well. Can anyone interested please declare an interest to me, in this thread. I might have to ask someone to help in the organising as I am on holiday and out of the country from Saturday 16th August for two weeks, so the Railway might need an alternative contact. If sufficient interest, perhaps we might meet on the Norwich Southern bypass, Thickthorn Services, then go up in convoy? Link to the Railway's public web page http://www.nnrailway.co.uk/ Alec

Postponed.
As there does not seem to be much interest in this event on this date, unless I hear from anyone, it will be postponed until a later date when more people can make it.

Hi Alec,
sorry - I would like to pop over (might even persuade the old man) but the timing's not great for me. I'd be happy to try again on a later date if that's the way it goes. Thanks, Pete

Hello
I missed your original post, which went online while we were on holiday. I'm Norwich based, and have taken the family on the Poppy Line a few times. My 10 year old would love to see around the engine sheds with me. He's a sensible lad, so I'm fairly certain he shouldn't pose a risk to H&S in the sheds. Can we join your visit?
