Default 440 automatic stalling issues......

I'm new here so if i'm in the wrong place i apologise.

My mums car stalls when she tries to put it in gear or when she just sets off. I aren't too clever when it comes to automatics but its starting to spoil a good car.

Does anyone have a rough idea of whats wrong and how to cure it?

The car is a 94 440 with 52k and fsh and one owner.

Default 440 Automatic Stalling

Hi there

I'm new too :-) I too had that problem with mine. The first you should try is clean the inside of the idle control valve ( a silver cylindrical thing in front of engine with black pipe sticking out and electrical wires plugged into it) with an aerosol carburettor cleaner. That should improve things for a while. If it's broken, the part's £110

Hope that helps.

Paul
