Default ABS Warning Light

Over the last week my ABS warning light has started to come on intermitently. It can come on without any apparent reason and then go off again after a few minutes. Sometimes it will stay on for much longer and still be on after switching the ignition off and back on again.

I went to my independent Volvo garage and they want £35 + VAT to read the fault codes.

Does this price sound reasonable?
Can I buy a fault code reader to use my self, and if so where from and how much?

My climate control also flashes the two orange fault lights from time to time. I assume this problem would also be explained by reading the codes.

Default Same problems in the past

Hi,

I had the same problem with the ABS light - turned out to be the dreaded control unit. Had another fitted - goodbye problem.

With the flashing ligts on the ACC- in my case I tried this first - I used the vacuum cleaner to suck out the fluff from the sensor on the far LHS of the switch bank - cover with slots - problem went. It seems the small fan inside can stop and reports an error.

Hope this Helps.

The AC sensor you mention. Is this the one next to the heated rear window and mirror switch?
