Well, the thing is, I m using 5w-50 during 6 years now in a zero - 45 degrees climat range, and today I wudnt change for another grade-spec. I tried once with a 0w-40 but its too thin for me. Had problems with the oil-return in my Turbo.

Riwax, where do you get your 5W-50 Mobil 1? I find it hard to get this. Its usually the 0W-40 or 15w-50.

cheers

The wide range difference was to be avoided with mineral oils, to get any range and make a mineral oil a multi grade Viscocity Improvers had to be used which can break down under use; the wider the gap the more VI's and greater the liklehood of the oil breaking down. So the advice was correct when using mineral oils.
Synthetic oils are different. They can naturally have a 25 or 30 + grade span without any additives at all. They can do this because they are still being measured agains the old standards used for mineral oils which they are not.

yup I know carrefour. So you are able to source this oil easily over there.

I was beginning to think they stopped making the 5w-50. Used to be able to get it in Asia when I was there but here in UK, hardly ever seen it. Must be up to marketing stratergy. Whats interesting is, why they sell a 5w in warmer countries and not here in UK which is colder. Morning starts in winter would be better to have 5w.

Noticed its priced well too. thanks
