For info, there is another company in Leicester called Autotronics that are confident they can repair the module. When finances allow, I'll probably get the defective module from my car repaired and retain it as a spare.

I'm curious. Did they quote you for the repair? On their website they only list crash data reset for airbag controllers.
Many companies offering crash data reset but not the no Comms fix that were experiencing

Have a look at my thread about the same sort of problem https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=330784

You will see in the end I bought a new module.

Hi Blackdog, this is what I found...

https://www.autotronics.co.uk/produc...m_medium=email

I have been told that after repair, 'as long as the coding is good', it should be a case of simply plugging it back into the car it came from without a need to program it to the car.

Just wondered if any other member has used their service. I was told, by a local garage and then an auto electrician prior to taking my car to Volvo that no comms could be established and it had to go to Volvo.

Smile issue sorted

Thank you for all of your suggestions.

I looked at Black Dog's suggestion of https://volvodiagnostic.com/srs-modu...-v70-xc70.html and gave them a call since they don't list the S60 among compatible vehicles. They said it was most likely possible, but suggested I drive the car to them for their engineer to examine it. After a 150-mile drive, they repaired my SRS module within a few hours.

When I asked what the issue was, they said some components needed to be replaced, but I haven't seen the repairs myself.

The other garage that charged me £260 just for diagnosing the fault said a replacement module would cost an additional £700. When I told them about Volvo Diagnostics, they said it wouldn't work.

Thank you for your suggestion Black Dog as without it, I would have been stung an additional £500 if not more
