So I filled car yesterday (annoyingly with the shell ultimate diesel as a treat as well)
When I've parked it up it's now dripping on my drive Quick look, seems to be above the tank rear passenger side I've had car less than a fortnight so can't say much about it. Had a service other day including fuel filter at a local Volvo specialist but that's other side isn't it? Any known areas to look ? 2010 with 128k miles Any advice would help Matt |

There's a rubber or plastic flexible section of the filler pipe between the filler inlet and the tank, designed to allow motion when the tank is full and thus heavy. They are known to perish or split with age, at which point the symptoms are as you describe - a strong smell of fuel and visible pooling under the vehicle after filling.
I had to have a replacement fitted last year for exactly this. It's possible that this is happening in your case too. The distinguishing feature from other sources of leakage would be that it only occurs after or during filling, and that the leak and smell cease on their own after a while, once the filler pipe has emptied.

Thanks for that
I've done 60 miles in it now and still seems to be leaking I'll have a look on YouTube about what you're suggesting One thing I've seen so far is the rubber o ring sealing the pump to the tank. Having to access it under rear seats |

Had the same issue a few months ago. Only noticed it when the car had been filled up completely. No dripping when it got to 3/4 of a tank. Turned out to be the runner seal at the top of the tank.

Is that the one under the rear seats? Did you fix it yourself or put it in a garage? Just trying to decide which way to sort it |

I put it into the garage. A couple of hundred quid from memory. Was a bit scary as I had a 600 miles round trip to Wales to do the day after noticing it.

Well think I've sorted it, cross fingers
Was the seal on the level sensor under passenger rear seat. Someone had tried previously I'm guessing previous owner but not cleaned the lip where the o ring sit. Nice when it's a £5 part, just a messy job when you're leaking diesel |
