Default To clean or not to clean?

Here's one for you wise people. Is it worth giving my mass air flow sensor a clean (I have the correct cleaner) or is it best left alone?

Not that I aspire to any great wisdom in these matters, Phil, but is there any reason that makes you think that it would benefit from cleaning? If not, then my take would be, if it isn't broken, probably best not to try and fix it.

Regards, John.

I agree with John above. Whilst I like everything 'just so' if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I would also leave well alone. You don’t want to risk damaging a £300 or so sensor.

According to what I've read it should be cleaned every time the air filter is changed. Don't use anything other than a good quality MAF cleaner

Wise words, John, thanks. I was just considering the old saying "prevention is better than cure" The car is running fine so obviously I want to keep it that way. Thanks everyone for your comments.
