When I parked the car up for the winter at the back of mum in laws house where getting power was an issue I have used a small 15w panel connected to a spare charge controller, which went to the 12v socket in the boot.

If the battery is full it will keep it topped up, but only just. A larger panel on the roof or similar would do a better job.

I haven't parked it up off the street this winter so have used a CTEK MXS5 to top the battery. Every 2nd week or so I charge it and then the next 2 weeks I take it for a run instead.

If you have mains use a charger, much easier. Off grid, get a decent sized panel.
