Also as a general thing, if i've ever had a gearbox or similar out, i've always check tightened after a week or two and often found the bolts have settled. Worth a thought.........

The bolts have plain washers - what type of lock washers were you thinking of?

Split washers. The parts book just says lock washers. #951670 I guess you could use serrated ones #940147. They are used with the Allen bolts.

The parts manual calls for the use of part # 940147 on the gearbox to bell housing mounting bolts. 940147 is a 'toothed' style lock washer
https://classic-volvo.com/getande-re...el-940147.html It is still in use on Penta Marine engines and was used on 240 and 740 series cars so may be available from your Volvo Penta or car dealership if you want the OEM item. Of course, the lock washer only works if it is properly torqued. |
