'05 V70 t5 shiftlock stuck in cold weather
I have same issue with an '05 V70 I bought this summer. It definitely seems temperature induced, as it started to occur as the temps neared freezing this winter. It doesn't *always* occur, but when it does I have to start the car and get the cabin temp up before it 'unsticks'.
Could the temperature sensitive nature of my issue be a clue as to what's wrong? I've popped the trim up and had a look inside, there's no coffee or other gunk in there that I can see. Perhaps there's something I can spray some boeshield t-9 on to keep things moving? Thanks! -Marc |

Hello all,
Sorry to dig up an old post but I seem to have this issue with my 2004 Volvo S60 where it seems to be cold for the first change in the morning now that it is cold. Once the engine is warm it seems normal. Can people give me some advice on that possible parts needs changing/looking at? Thank you, Matthew |

Gear stick stuck in park, V70
I had gear stick jamming in park sporadically. Turned out to be the brake light switch was faulty. As soon as I changed the brake light switch everything worked fine: in addition to locking in park while ignition off, the brakes need to be applied, the unlock activated by the brake light switch activation

Stuck in Park
Hi there, has anyone had a problem with the release button on the back of the auto gear selector, I am stuck in park at the moment. It happened yesterday as well but it released itself without the key in the ignition after me playing about with the button, so I am thinking it isn't a solenoid problem but just a faulty release button. any help and information would be much appreciated before I purchase that part from Volvo (be quite expensive I reckon) The car is a 2005 V70 75,000 mileage. Kind regards Richard

far as I'm aware it should never release without the keys in ignition? to get mine to move I need ignition on and press the brake pedal
if it is jammed or flat battery or something you can move it by lifting up the base plate and operating the little latch underneath by hand (on left side of stick) access might vary model to model but on mine I remove the small pen holder thing (under heater module) and there's two little clips to prise on under there I never go anywhere near the stealership, I get everything from ebay even unused parts such as https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203081699...4AAOSw8AlceSyc (check is right type first obviously) or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174751940...gAAOSwiA5fmL4L this one looks pretty clean Last edited by stuart bowes; May 21st, 2021 at 13:51. |

I had this happen on my 2004 V70. The plastic inside the shifter broke which meant the selector could shift into any gear without pressing the button in. normally only shifts between D and N without a button press. the bit on the left should go round the metal pin. £12.99 for a new button on ebay and it was all good again. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283980079638 (it say's it for a geartronic box but I don't have one and still worked. ymmv). I followed this YouTube tutorial on how to get access. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYnBdt9Iclk And you do just need to pull hard and not hit yourself in the face. And make sure you give it a few good smacks down when reinstalling. |

the buttons come in black and grey.
I accidentally ordered a grey one as in the picture it looked grey but you can't see it when on the car. |

Useful to know about this, just in case it happens to mine.

This regards my 2007 V70 base with automatic.
The release button on my lever has broken a bit. Now the gear shift lever has to be shaken occasionally to get it to move. I think I can remove the gear shift after viewing the video above. Can I replace the button and the attached rod with either #9463564 or #8671057 ? Eeuroparts says either one fits my vehicle. One is $118.45, the other is $132.65. Does anyone know the difference between these two parts? Has anyone ever replaced the "button and rod" guts of the lever? Last edited by Georgeandkira; Jun 6th, 2024 at 15:40. |
