Default V70 T5 - Radom start rattle and occasional stall on start up

Hi all,

My V70 T5 has developed a strange rattle on start-up - doesn't do it every time, but sounds quite angry when it does. The noise goes within a second as soon as the revs drop to idle.

Would anyone have some insight into what this might be, to help me narrow down a possible fault and get it fixed. I have been investigating but it's been very difficult to narrow down the source of the noise.

Along with the above issue, occasionally the car will die on start-up. It doesn't sputter out, it just shuts off as it would do with killing the ignition. The car restarts without issue.

The car has been well-serviced and maintained. I know I need to replace the AC pulley / compressor as that started to whine a bit whilst driving (run the car with the AC off for the moment), but don't think the issue lies there (please correct me if I am wrong).

Thanks in advance for the help.

Regards

James
