Car lock when walk away and forget to lock
Hi there, quick question. Does the v60 allow you to set up the car so if you walk away and forget to lock it, the car locks itself after x amount of time? My megane has it, just wondered if the Volvo's have it?
Thanks |

Only if you haven't opened a door/boot in the meantime or if you have pcc/ keyless locking

The closest I have is that if you leave the car unlocked for half an hour after finishing a journey the Volvo On Call app alerts me and I can lock it from the app. But not an auto lock timer, which I think is what you're asking for?

I think that leaving the keys in the car, wandering away and the car then automatically locking after any period could present major issues for people becoming locked out of the car - most people don't carry 2 keys around with them and few have VoC to unlock the car using a mobile app

The Megane's system relies on the key being out the lock. From memory, Audi have a similar system in their cars.

I have PCC on mine and it does appear to lock the car if I walk away with the key in my pocket.
It doesn't lock it, with the wing mirrors folding in etc but the Mrs has complained that she was locked in the car but then she does complain a bit anyway ..... ian |

Yes - this happened to me - thankfully outside my house where I had a spare key BUT imagine if this had happened when you were out somewhere & you'd also left the mobile phone in the car too! This has to be one of the stupidest 'functions' I've ever come across in a car. Surely, the nearest and safest version of this would be that the car senses when the key is moving away - then the car knows the key is out of the car and it can safely lock.

Cars with keyless entry don't allow locking if the key is in the car. Don't think there's any way of the car locking automatically like the Renault system

When I purchased my first car, it had two keys and I was able to lock the driver's door by pressing down the internal button before closing the door. If my key was inside at that time then I was locked out.
I therefore took responsibility by carrying two keys at all times. I don't believe that relying upon a car instead of relying upon oneself is an approach that I would feel happy adopting. Why are you looking for this feature?
