XC60 D5 (2012) Intercooler Hose replacement advice
Hello friends
I have slit in the hose (No4) to the Intercooler. Have any advice how to remove it from the intercooler side as there is not much room there? Could it be reached with flexible extension bit holder? |

I presume you mean the pipe clamp sitting almost in the chassis ??
Having just done this on my V60, presumably pretty similar, I ended up using a 7mm ratchet spanner and a normal 7mm spanner on flat at a time. Nothing else would fit in the gap. I also split the pipe with a sharp knife as it was "welded" to the stub !! It's a slow job but as others on here have said, doable DIY. Last edited by V60white; May 12th, 2024 at 06:40. |

Yes exactly that pipe clam.
Was there need to dismantle other parts? Did you you reach to it from the top or bottom of the car? |

Don't forget I have the V60 so not sure how much is the same as the XC60, someone on here will be more knowledgeable than I and may be able to answer that. |

Some additional info for those who have the same problem for XC60 D5 2012.
I dismantled a lot pieces, but in the end it would be enough just to dismantle the plastic plate that is connected to the bottom of the dumber. Then dismantled the support bar for the Intercooler while supported it with some light lifting slings. As still did not reach to open the hose clamp I drilled to cut it. Unfortunately the part I bought was not the correct one. So now I have used bike inner tyre and duct tape to make fix to the old one and reinstalled it. I have the same problem again. I changed the hose less than 2 years ago and it has failed again, splits on inner side. Now waiting for replacement. Not too hard to access, remove airbox and it is clear to see and access. Clips should be relatively easy but not too much space for spanners, ratchets or screw drivers. If I remember previously I had to use a flat screw driver bit in a small ratchet. Hopefully last time I positioned the clips in a slightly better position to access. I have used some gaffer tape as a temporary fix and to stop going into limp mode!
