Turbo resonator pipe
Hi all
Newbie here My wifes XC90 D5 has developed low boost and hissing from turbo Wipped off the undertray and checked the lower orange seal and found it to be all good I can feel air coming from the top seal I think where the resonator clamps to the turbo. Im reasonay handy with spanners but just cant work out how to get to the top clamp Any ideas? Someone mentioned a socket extension but from where? How long? Is the nut 8mm on the clamp? Thanks all Simon |

Not sure about how you access it. I've tried searching YouTube for a video, but the ones I've seen are too fast to show what's actually involved. Unless maybe someone else can post something that my help...
What I do know is those orange seals are notorious for causing issues. Lots of owners ditch those orange seals completely. Then fit a new pipe without the seals which lasts longer. I think the pipe is made of silicone.

If you can get it on a lift its quite easy to do. You can get to it higher up in the exhaust tunnel using a few small extension bars and joints.
I had to do mine a few weeks ago.

That's the proper fix. Ditch the orange seals and be done with it!

Obviously a common issue
I was going to ask if anyone had used a silicone resonator replacement as I have the loud hiss at about 2000rpm
On have been advised its going to be one of the orange seals but I wondered if it would be better to replace with the resonator delete silicone pipe Looks like my question was answered. They are a fraction of the cost of a new resonator so makes sense one question though is will it sound any louder than the original |
