Screenwash pump
Noticed last time I drove that the windscreen washer pump didn't produce any screenwash, despite it being topped up. Rear screen is the same - wipers work fine, but no screenwash.
Headlamp screenwash works fine, on fourth pull of stalk. This evening have had the pump off and cleaned the filter (pretty much blocked), reassembled and filled again with fresh screenwash. However, exactly the same symptoms - headlamp wash works, but nothing to either front or rear screen. When I try it with ignition on (engine off) I can only hear the pump working for headlamps - is it a separate pump? Fuse is ok. Given the Ford equivalent part is very cheap, is it easiest to just put a new one on, or is there anything else I can't try first? Getting the electricical plug off the top is a bit of a faff too! Car is a 2009 XC90. |

It must be separate as I pulled the fuse for my headlamp washers as it was doing my head in. If you can’t hear anything I imagine it’s goosed but if you can get to the connector maybe try multimeter.

Thanks for the reply, new pump on order for the grand total of £7. Hopefully that's all it needs!

New pump fitted and now fully working, easier with the first rivet drilled out from the wheel arch lining to get access to the top of the pump for the electrical connector.
Readily available - this is the one I used: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/326052703...mis&media=COPY |
