Unhappy Convertible roof totally unresponsive (stuck closed)...

Hey all, a few months ago I bought a 2003 Volvo C70 with only ~77000 miles on it, in generally perfect working order. However, a few days ago, I tried putting the roof down before going on a drive, and when I pressed and held the button, nothing happened — no light on the button, no unlocking noise like normal, no window movement, nothing.

Of course, I tried with the engine running, made sure the car was in park with the handbrake activated, checked to make sure the boot was fully closed, etc. Still, absolutely no response whatsoever.

Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this total unresponsiveness? Appreciate any help I can get. :)

Can you see the handbrake light illuminated on the dashboard? I've dealt with a similar issue before where the handbrake lever switch wasn't working consistently.

ok I'd start with checking fuses and then using VIDA (Volvo dealer diagnostic) on the CAB module to check the pre-requisite inputs to start the roof cycles (handbrake, boot switch, park etc.)

You could also try putting your mobile phone on video record and shutting it in the boot to check the boot light goes out.... but I think this would show as the boot light on the dash anyway.
