Differential Pressure Sensor
Just had my dpf cleaned as was saying full. During diagnostic test it has shown that the differential pressure sensor has failed. Has anyone changed this and at what cost. Car has 142000 miles

I have recently changed the DPF Pressure sensor as it showed up as a fault. Bit of a fiddle with fat arthritis fingers and hands. Cleared fault code and message "Engine system service required" only for it to come back on a day or so later. Checked it all through again to make sure pipes and small electrical plug fitted ok and cleared codes again. Guess what, message and fault re-appeared! Was the replacement sensor faulty??
Took the car around to my son to do some further testing. He took dpf pressure sensor off again but this time removed the two rubber pipes to confirm they were not split or blocked. All OK. Then started looking at the electrical side and checked condition and integrity of the three wire in the plug and found the signal wire to be faulty. Stripped scuttle, battery, wipers etc out to get access to the ECU and started to trace the wires through from DPF Pressure Sensor into the loom and ecu connector. Fault was between ECU and the sensor. On inspecting the loom below battery box there was an area where the outer sleeve had worn through and also had worn the insulation of one of the cables. Found it. Peeled the outer sleeve back a little to expose the wire further and it was worn through! Luckily, managed to repair it by making a good soldered joint with some heat shrink over and re-wrapped the outer sleeving of the loom. All good again and no more error codes or messages. So not sure whether this is a common fault or a one off, but worthwhile checking if others have same / similar issue. It must have rubbed on the bottom of the battery box so we managed to put a little more "padding" around the loom so fingers crossed. 20240521_123751.jpg |
