Default How does the T8 calculate mpg

Does anyone know how the car calculates mpg while using battery only?

I’m aware there is an “app” that gives kw/mile and mpg on the centre screen but the trip computer on the dash only gives mpg even when doing a completely electric journey.

When driving on electric only, you essentially get free miles. So if the car said 25mpg after doing 25 miles, then it would have used 1 gallon. If you then you drove exactly 25 miles on electric only then you would have done 50 miles and used 1 gallon, so it would display 50mpg.

Subject to:-

If you have a fuel burning heater I think the consumption keeping you warm counts as fuel used.

It will never display over 150mpg, even if you do over 150mpg.

After reseting if you only drive in electric it will display 0mpg. Once you use a drop of fuel it will start calculating (I guess if there is zero fuel use then the 0mpg displays instead of "Div zero" which is what it will actually be getting as the result of the computer's maths).
