Cabin filter for my V70 (2012) was a tenner from the local independent motorist shop up the road, and took me ten minutes to change. True it's just a paper filter, not a fancy carbon one, but does it really matter?

I would say it does matter as I had a gen Volvo one in (£38.00 )prior to a service at a Volvo indy ( my back was buggered ) they changed for a cheap as chips paper sh*tty one. I noticed all the smells from outside ( farms etc ) was much more noticeable. Swapped to gen Volvo when I did my own and it went back to nice clean smelling air !! I suffer from hayfever quite badly so I think it will also help that come the summer

£22.75, good make, they also sell a Bosch one. They are only about £4 to 5 more than a non carbon one of a good make. |

Well I'm booked in for a service (as it needs one).
I have a question. The the car is 13 years old at 163k miles. Should Volvo service based on: - how OLD the car is (e.g. 13 years old...indicating on the Volvo schedule as a "263k miles" service? or - how many miles the car has done (e.g. 162k is detailed as a NINE year-old service schedule)? I'm not sure if it really matters for these - as the schedule of works remains the same...but they do differ across years/mileage (e.g. some minor services, others are major). Hope that all makes sense! ![]()
