2007 C30 upgrade to Premium Sound?
Hi folks, first new thread so please excuse me if I’m re-raking old ground; links to existing info/how-to threads will be welcomed 🙂
The car: 2007 C30 D5 SE with a few options but unfortunately not Premium Sound. The trigger for this: CD player mostly refusing to eject and throwing “Disc Error” on the display; however it will often eject when completely cold i.e. if I remember to hit eject just after the first start of the day. Weird, I know. (Also I’m really missing having an AUX port for more than an hour of non-radio, no-action music at a time). The thinking: as it’s faulty anyway, can I find and fit a Premium Audio unit in its place without major surgery? I’ve already sourced and fitted both front door tweeters and their grille-type housings; the wiring and plugs for them were already installed. It’s a vain hope but is the rest of the wiring tucked-away ready for the other components of Premium Audio to be retrofitted? Also, is the main unit coded to the car or can it be swapped without affecting anything? All info welcomed - and if it’s a general “no” consensus, a steer towards someone who can fix the recalcitrant existing CD transport unit will be particularly appreciated. Over to the experts then! |

As for upgrade to premium is not that simple, needs changing car configuration and hardware. As for replacing unit it a less of a problem. You can ask dealer to load software called ITP remove and that will take out theft protection and then you can swap for used unit
