Dpf can you tell from emission figures?
This isn't related to any particular models other than diesel ones of course but I'm thinking along the lines of V70/V50 with the D5 engine but in general I guess it could apply to any diesel car of certain era's.
I have read about telling if your diesel car has a dpf by looking at the vin number method the eighth digit being 3 No dpf or 5 yes hasa dpf but theresemsto be some confusion regarding the digit being a 4 and the has or hasn't it got a dpf. I was wondering if you can tell by looking at the care official emissions figures as listed on say Parkers site. I know a dpfis for soot control but would a dpf being fitted make any difference to the co2 figures in anyway. Anyone know? |

A DPF itself makes little if any, difference to CO2 figures.
However, using the D5 for example, the DPF models arere later and do have different Co2 figures. Not because of the DPF, but because of detai, differences in the engine and management system. The D5 DPF itself rarely gives problems compared to the likes of Ford or French cars. It's a lot bigger and works in a different way. Sensors and the associated monitoring systems can cause hassle, but even that is not terribly common.
