Gotta love redneck engineering!

It was a redneck that invented toothpaste - if it hadn't have been, it would have been called "teethpaste".............

OTOH its a runner, which is more than could be said for some costing far more.

Definitely going to need a big bottle of Argomix to do that one.
There is even rust on the steering wheel!

Well I'm now officially down with the kidz, finally managed to get a FB login.....

Will see what follows. asked for a few more photos and info regarding past history on the rusty old blue thing.

At least a steering wheel can be easily replaced, but yes, it does pose the question if someone left the window open for 20 years?????

Cheers

This one surprised me a bit. It seemed like a nice motor car, but the bidding only got to £5,400 and didn't reach its reserve. Perhaps the BSBS was busy elsewhere, or maybe cars aren't making so much these days?

This one suprised me a lot when it popped up on facebook murkyplace for £2900 in London, sporting a slightly higher mileage in a new set of photos.

https://m.facebook.com/marketplace/i.../?locale=en_GB

Someone's pulling a fast one, not sure who.

Anecdotal tales from the FB group reckon it's been sold a few times in the past few years. And the new photos show it's been repainted.

Thank you BB,

I don't have Facebook (social media is not for me), but much to my surprise the link worked without an account. I'm guessing the advertising part is separate from whatever the rest does?

Now that is interesting, it is certainly the same motorcar (well, the same registration and colour), but it is more than a bit odd that it has moved from Bolton to London and the price has more than halved.

Was that ad just placed yesterday (the web page says Thursday, but there is no date).

Curiouser and curiouser...

PS. Which one do you think is the scam?

PPS. ... and curiouser and curiouser... the Bolton one has been re-listed with a grand starting price:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235044011968

I rather assume that is the genuine ad and the Facebook one is a scam?

I'm not sure it is all that attractive unless one really wants a round headlamp 240 VWW. The later (1982) motor cars were much better and are now qualifying for the historic vehicle premium.

The green 245 VWW seems to be struggling a bit with the auction, it has only reached £3,600 with a day and a half to go. Maybe there will be a sudden spurt at the end... or perhaps classic car prices are going down as quickly as the housing market?
