Leak in boot and driver footwell
eak from anntena into rear and driver footwell
Hi, sorry - new user and not sure if this is the right place to post. I have a 2016 XC60 D4 which I love. Mechanically perfect but I have serious water ingress issues. There has been leaking into the rear compartment for some time from the underneath the back plastic. I’ve had the cargo seal replaced and then a smoke test and confirmed it’s from the antenna. Two garages didn’t want to know. Last week there was two inches of water in the driver footwell. Absolutely no tracking marks, appeared to come from nowhere. This is particularly an issue when Parked facing down hill. Bonding of windscreen seems to be fine and Volvo confirms no issues with this year so no good will. Has been seen by Volvo specialist and he doesn’t want to touch it. Says take to dealer but suspects water on footwell is also caused by antenna seal. I’m booked into Volvo who want £600 to do lean test and confirm - then the repair on top (they can’t estimate). There’s noise of a recall for this issue on the new xc40 in America but Volvo say no issue on my vehicle. Anyone had this? Have I got a lemon? I’m not sure I’ve got thousands to fix the issue. Tried sealant on the antenna as a temp fox with no joy . |

Does the car have a sunroof? If so check the drainage tubes aren’t blocked, there should be one tube from each corner of the sunroof, that runs down the A pillars and I think C pillars to the wheel arches.

I had a leak from my antenna seal which I confirmed myself by carefully sealing it with electrical tape for a few weeks. After doing that, I had no issues with water coming in.
Once confirmed, Volvo Aberdeen replaced the seal for just over £100. I think the seal was around £30 and then it was half an hour labour to do the work. It's standard job in their book so your local dealer should be doing it for the same. Obviously hourly rates will differ bugt the time and part cost shouldn't be any different Two inches of water in your footwell sounds like far too much for it to be the antenna seal so I would suspect that is coming from somewhere else e.g. blocked/split sunroof drain or maybe a faulty door seal

Can I possibly ask - did they insist you pay for them to do a leak yeast? I had mine confirmed independently but they insist on conducting their own to the tune of £500!

If you know the antenna seal is leaking just book it in with the dealer to replace the seal.

They said they needed to confirm it was that. I should have been more assertive here.

My dealer was happy with what I'd done to confirm the leak was from the antenna seal.
I'd have done the seal replacement myself I'd they had wanted to charge for diagnosis

Hi - I’ve had the boot leak fixed and Volvo said that this was the cause of the driver footwell leak but we’ve had rain and the footwell is leaking again. I’m £700 down now. I will call them Tuesday but any ideas …. It isn’t the windscreen and there’s no tracking marks, just looking of water.

Hi hopefully this might help, my 2015 xc60 had a wet footwell (drivers side)
Volvo checked the screen and couldn’t find anything wrong, So I kept an eye on it and have found that on mine, it’s coming in from the top of the door. It doesn’t do it all the time only now and again. so I place a dog pee mat to catch any drops and that works for me but I assume I’m needing to buy a new door rubber seal to properly fix it. Hope this helps😊
