Question Creaking/Groaning Clutch

I have read a couple of times about how to alleviate the groaning/creaking from inside the bellhousing when the clutch is pressed.

I do not want to just go blasting inside it with WD40 etc, so can anyone explain the best way please?

Thanks Guy

Pull the rubber gaiter clear and using a spotlight give a targetted brief squirt with WD40 down the red tube.

Will I know what to target once I see in there?

Anthing that moves when you press the clutch. There's a lever which pivots on a projecting ball on the bell housing, and its two arms engage with the bearing holder. The bearing has a ball race, which often gets noisy and benefits from a few drops of oil.

Ive done this a couple of times now and it doesnt seem to be alleviating the creaking/ squeaking noise for very long and ive done it again today and it made very little difference at all. Is this due to the lever/ball mechanism getting worn/ misshapen? I was told i'd probably need a new arm/lever assembly..

WD40 would be a great way to MAKE it squeak as it will wash away any grease that might have been there.

What you want to use is a spray grease
The areas to target are 1) the contact pads between the clutch fork and release bearing 2) the contact between the pivot ball and clutch fork 3) the push rod and clutch fork

You need to make sure you do not get oil/grease onto the clutch friction plate

Yes, i used spray grease, not WD40. I'm very aware about not getting to grease into the friction plate so maybe being a bit timid about it and just not targeting it effectively. Anyway, we've had contact off forum which was very helpful and very much appreciated

Fitted new clutch (from classicswede) earlier in the week and it has made a huge amount of difference, a lovely light clutch action, absolutely great.. but.. after a couple of days, the creaking noise has returned a little and i'm absolutely convinced its to do with the pedal action (which i looked at a while back and it seemed ok).. it seems to be near the very top of the lever action and if you hold it in that spot and rock your foot very slightly you can feel and hear it quite distinctly.. particularly when the car is stationary with the engine off. It has slightly dampened my joy at how nice the new clutch feels but am going to investigate the pedal mechanism again tomorrow..
