The power steering pump is the only problem I've had with our V70 - after the original went bad went through another two quickly then the 4th one is about OK. But these were refurbs and I think it's best to buy a new OEM one, costly as they are.

it would surely be better to disconnect the return to the pump and run that out into a tub while filling the header ? then you're actually fully flushing all of the fluid out

or is that what you were already doing ?

i did it exactly like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcGQH4etmfI

A1 lady to the rescue again, she's done so many good videos on this car
Some of those videos are great yeah!
I've been pulling the return hose off and putting it into a bottle, then turning lock to lock to 'pump' the fluid out using the rack, engine off. Maybe I'll try the engine on method but I don't really have a second pair of hands. Thanks

My v70 is on its original one and 146k, I'd definitely get a brand new pump for that one when it goes...
But the s60 in this thread is a project so trying to keep the costs down, only installed OEM pumps but they have all been used ones off breaking cars and unfortunately one bad one seems to have killed the rest
Currently it has an oem ZF pump I pulled off a 2006 s60 at the scrapyard. was on 160k. Time will tell...

Default Flush using flusing oil?

Hello again,
After a month or so and over 1000 miles, there are still flakes.
I want to do a proper flush with the engine running and return line running into a bucket, whilst feeding pump with a constant supply of oil.
Would there be anything wrong with me using SAE20 flusing oil, as I am almost £70 deep into bottles of CHF. Obviously flush through again with CHF afterwards.
Or is this not worth it. 5L of flushing oil is circa £20
