Default 2012 V70 D3 turbo pressure sensor location

My car is giving a fault code for the turbo pressure sensor so I want to replace it however I’m having trouble locating it. Can’t see it in any obvious places. Where have they hidden it?

Haines manual says it is between the air filter housing and intake manifold which is anywhere on the whole of the air system!

Euro car parts tried selling me a MAF sensor telling me it’s the same thing so I want to find it to get a part number from it.

If it's a manual gearbox look around the end and at the bottom of the intercooler on the passenger side.

Could this be it?

I am not sure, because of the similar but different names those sensors come out when googling

For instance: "Air MAP sensor turbo boost pressure where MAP is (Manifold absolute pressure)"

Obvioulsy, try to clean it first :-)

From a thread of mine 6 years ago:

RESOLVED:

Faulty boost pressure sensor, part number VO31355462. Diagnosis by Volvo main dealer and replaced while I waited. No fault codes had shown up so it was probably early stages of failure.

Couldn't get the hesitation to happen again on the way home and the car is much crisper and punchier under acceleration.

I imagine this sensor can be replaced as a DIY job but don't know if you have to tell the car via VIDA that the part has been changed.

Hope this is of use to someone!

Found the explanation and location for both sensors (V70 D3 MY2013).

PN-31355462
Pressure Sensor location at Intercooler
(sensor is no 11)

PN-31216308
Pressure Sensor location at Inlet Manifold
(sensor is no 11)

I changed the sensor on the inlet manifold. This was full of soot and completely blocked. This cleared the initial fault code but threw up some other codes relating to the boost sensor having low/invalid reading.
Then changed the other sensor on the intercooler outlet and all codes have cleared. This was fiddly to get to but luckily managed to change it without needing to remove half the front end of the car, just it’s own screw.

Only done a few short trips so far but acceleration seems a lot better. I guess it’s now using real values rather than default ones that would restrict power output. Fingers crossed this gets my fuel consumption back above 40mpg again.

I have replaced the TMAP sensor by the intercooler. TMAP = Temperature and Manifold Air Pressure sensor. It's a combined one.

This is confusing

So, are there two similar sensors?

One at the inlet manifold, and the other one near the intercooler?

Please see, my post above...

I guess the one on the intercooler measures the temp and pressure of the cooled air out of the turbo a d intercooler. The one on the inlet manifold measures similar after the egr valve has done its bit. The values from each probably influences what the egr valve is doing amongst other things.
