Default Volvo key fob

New to the xc90 2016 and besides the 2 multifunction key fobs. I also have got another key fob without any buttons. Can someone please explain what this does.

I assumed keyless entry but that works with the other keys.

Thanks.

It is probably the sports key (You can take it with you to do sports).. less chunky and more waterproof than the normal keys. Keyless entry only of course.

The slimline fob with no buttons is indeed the sports key and should work for keyless entry, start and exit.
The issue is that if its the original one issued with the car is 2016 then the batteries will be dead by now and the batteries are not easily changeable without cutting the key open and destroying the keys waterproof rating.

The sports key I got with my previous car in late 2019 only lasted for about 2.5 years and stopped working just before I switched into my new car so at 7ish years old, you have no chance the battery is still working.
