Exhaust Manifold Bolts?
Whilst poking around the other day when I was repairing my clutch master cylinder, I spotted that 2 of my exhaust manifolds nuts were very very loose. I checked the rest and they were all loose, and one was even missing. I can only presume that the last person to take it off before I bought the car, didn't put it back on properly haha. I nipped them all back up and replaced the missing nut.
My question is, should there be any kind of washer behind the brass nuts? On the Skandix site they list them, so I would like to ensure that all is as it should be for my engine. https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-part...ld-m8/1014964/ I may even just replace the studs too as they are a little crusty. ... if you use flanged nuts there is no need for washers. Since changing them I haven't noticed the nuts loosening, I think the larger surface area of the flanged nuts holds them more securely. The nuts were really inexpensive (£5.83 for 50 - delivered), there is no need to waste money on 'genuine Volvo' (whatever that means) ones - exhaust nuts are exhaust nuts. I changed the studs at the same time, M8x1.25x45mm long zinc plated studs are pretty cheap (about £8 for 10 if I recall), they are common user items, so again there is no need to waste money on 'genuine Volvo' ones. Stick them in with a little bit of thread lock. Alan

I have about 30 (from the bag of 50) left over; if you drop me a PM with a postal address I'll put 10 in a jiffy bag to save you having to buy them. Alan
