Thanks.
But I still have to remove the turbo for this, right? It's just that replacing the entire thing in one go saves you from hours of cleaning? Edit: I read your original message as possibly not needing to remove the turbo at all, but re-reading it, I think you meant just do it properly the first time so you will never have to do is a second time. I think I undertand now! Will look into it! |

There's no need to remove the turbo or change any parts based on a guess when you can establish the VNT operation within a few minutes using cheap tools.
On a Euro 3 D5, if you follow my video here, you can diagnose or eliminate a faulty actuator and you can physically see the VNT arm moving which in turn is moving the VNT mechanism through its full range of travel. If the actuator holds vacuum and the VNT arm moves freely through its full (10-20mm) range of travel, the problem is elsewhere.

I think I missed this post...
So here's no reason to suspect the turbo based on this vid? https://youtu.be/NJiBHyIaTYE Yes, I still have this car, even though roadtax is killing me... (2500€/y and rising and no access to a lot of city centres). And it still has the low power issuethat I haven't been able to fix in 14 years of ownership. |
