I did a bit of a write up on this some time back with pictures,
a search should find it:~ Quite straight forward- briefly remove the mirror and separate into parts, The castings can begin to shred the paint and flake. Clean away the original coating-sanding/wire brush. Etch prime all areas (always use etch primer on Aluminium) a normal primer can now be used on top of this if you wish. Top coat in a satin black. All the above can be purchased via your local car paint factors or online. Hope it helps. Bob. |

Thanks for the info BOB,,,i have removed and etched and primed it waiting.to paint now...!!!! Unfortunately my other Volvo the b200f estate needs a new head gasket which all parts are ordered from Brookhouse... My mechanic friend said i can do it myself with his instructions..im lucky to live on a farm where the estate is only 80 meters away in a work shop where i can go in and take my time doing it...but i have a question about whether i can just undo the inlet/fuel rail etc and pull away from the head...??? i have done the shims in the past and timing belt so I'm quite confident in doing it....any info i would be grateful for regards Adrian...!!
