Question 2017 V40 T2 Auto - Excessive fuel consumption

I have had the car a few months now. I could have posted this earlier but wanted to see if things would improve over time. Alas, they haven't, and my fuel consumption rarely gets above 27 mpg.

I love the car and its done less than 10k miles having been owned by an elderly gent before me, but its getting really expensive to run with fuel costs as high as they are. The main problem I think, is that most of my journeys are short and local, sometimes only a few miles. Because of this, the stop/start function never operates as the auxiliary battery never gets a chance to properly charge.

I do get better consumption, sometimes as high as 45 mpg on longer journeys but this still seems low. Stop/start also functions as it should after a while. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Sorry if its been posted before but I have carried out multiple searches and can't find anything.

You need to post in the forum for your car. This only deals with the classic S/V40 up to 2004.
