On a long trip incessant droning can drive you crazy. When I last deleted sections of my exhaust and also put in free flow induction kit on a 3.0 V6 Peugeot 406 Coupe, I made sure that I got the power without the noise. On an earlier V6 I had not been so thorough and a return trip to the South of France drove me crazy at any speed between 60 and 70 when the exhaust harmonics were dreadful. When I got home I had an additional small silencer, 200mm x 100mm, placed in the system and it scrubbed out the droning.

Turbo's with VNT are excellent at killing drone on straightpipes.

The cummins had a 4" straight through system and doesn't drone. You can hold conversation, Until tunnel!
Same with my old 940 diesel and the XC is straightpiped but is disappointingly quiet.

On N/A's depending on engine size, the drone might get to you. My shed70 (P1 v70) suffered a loss of exhaust at the front flexi, THAT was drone. Ear protection required for the 110 mile journey home! Still, Was an absolute hoot to drive. It certainly tested car alarms shock sensors!

Anyway, less of the photo's, Driveby video!!
