every couple of weeks a 30 minute run is fine if you can cruise at 50 60. Then once a month a good run of a couple of hours will keep it shipshape. To be honest if it aint being used its a deadweight so get rid. I did but still miss car, though I just dont need one. Now if I had my old reliable 2003 D5 I think I would getout more.

If you are using the new E10 PETROL i wouldnt leave it for too long between uses. Water damage in rubber pipe work will become a problem from the new petrol.

Really!!! bloody ada we are all doomed then.

That reminds me WD40 aint what it used to be either and keep it away from rubbber/plastics as it will perish them. I sprayed it on my V50 throttle pedal and it killed it. Mind you I got £300 compo for the horrid saga from them so they clearly know whats up.

My 850 sits untouched for 5½ months during the winter. It is put on SORN at the end of September and sits in the garage until the last week in March when it gets taken out for it's MOT. I never start the engine during this period as it will never get up to temperature and would do more harm than good. Never had a problem and I've been doing this with various older cars since 2003

After he died in June 2020, my Dad's 2012 V60 D2 stood untouched for 2 years in the garage. Of course the battery had died and getting into the car was a major problem because of the amount of crap in the garage making it impossible to open the nearside door: the only door that can be unlocked with a key.

To cut a long story short after replacing the batteries and checking things over as carefully as possible, it started without any difficulty and everything seems to operate normally. My fear that the clutch may have stuck proved groundless. After a new MoT, the car does not seem to have suffered any ill effects from its eforced idleness.

However it's certainly not something I'd recommend and I think we've been lucky to get off so lightly.

He had a 1992 940 as well which I've yet to look a,t but I doubt I shall be as lucky there.
