Default hu850 replacement

Morning all!

Just got a v70 d5, and in a fairly standard scenario the radio has jsut about given up. HU850, very few lights work, 6cd changer doesnt work, and FM radio is dire!

I was going to get it fixed up, replace the cd changer, put new bulbs in etc, then fit a GROM box for DAB and bluetooth. but at the cost of all that I may aswell fit a complete new DAB unit.

So what are the options? are there double/single din dash facia radio surrounds available that look ok?

If I replace the radio will the satnav RTI still do its thing?

I don't think I've an amp to worry about - its the HU850 dalby pro (I think)

In my old p80 v70 tdi I have a pure dab, but the facia radio surround is crap. So ideally id like something that looks standard, and retains the cup holder though I may be wishing for too much there!

Thanks!

Ben

personally I wouldn't worry about the satnav, it'll be out of date and although it looks cool the screen is very dated as well, many double din touchscreen with dab not only have reversing camera but also most are android auto / carplay, hence up to date 2020's satnav with all the features and a crisp clear screen

only snag really in comparison, is the positioning. I'll grant you the 'popup' RTI screen is better placed but then I've used mine a hundred or more times and it's never felt like it was distracting me from the road, you only need to glance at it really

I wrote a bunch of info on it when I first put it in https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=313115

amp or no amp either way there's connector leads to deal with the situation so that's not a problem

Ben - the HU850 is a very high quality unit - depending on the fault, it is repairable.
Yes lacks the functionality of after-market units, but works well with the under-seat amp.

How's my tow-bar ?
John
