Yes, but you need to check if foxwell can do stuff on volvo. I have foxwell 6xx NT something, not sure anymore. Can do a lot with MB bmw VW, but very less on volvo

I'm afraid it probably does. DIY on Volvos made after 2015 is going to be a lot more difficult and even independent garages aren't going to be well equipped to deal with state of the art Volvo cars. It may influence skilled home mechanics to hold onto pre 2015 Volvos rather than trade up for newer second hand models.

Volvo would want a market that bought new Volvos and traded them in for new Volvos before the warranty runs out and had them serviced only by main dealers. The traded in cars would be sold by main dealers at premium prices to owners who would treat them as new cars and have them serviced by the main dealers but after those cars moved on, Volvo would lose interest in them. The changes to VIDA fit this marketing model. I bought a Volvo for their reputation for quality, safety and longevity. I feel this is being eroded.

The icarsoft V2.0 with it's latest software will do the 2018 XC40 and presumably other models.

You can get a Volvo specific version. It certainly looks comprehensive but if the iCarsoft can do the gearbox adaptation and reset the counter I'll probably go for that.
