Default Can't open Bonnet anymore! Cable stretched/stuck?

Just replaced the Intercooler on my V70. Whilst working on it I had the front crash bar off and it was pulling a little on the bonnet cable.

Slammed the boonet down to test drive the car and now it won't release!

I'm not sure if the cable may have stretched or if I havn't rooted it back properly.

I've been searching for ways to open the bonnet to no avail. There is no resistance whatseover when I pull the inside catch. I've tried pushing the bonnet down but it's well and truly closed.

Is there any way to get in via the grill?

Appreciate any advice as this is driving e round the bend! TIA

pull it harder like full blast.

when I replaced my bonnet catch, the first tug was taking up the slack and putting itself just right. every pull after that was perfect.

That's in and up from under the bumper then, you may have to take the grille out by alternative means maybe even destroy it, a torch inspection is always first choice to see if you can tease it with a flat blade.

This is edited as I suggested the bonnet pressure idea without seeing you'd already tried it.

Gander this...

No tension whatsoever I'm afraid

It sounds like the cable and latch aren't married anymore which means you will have to get under and try to manually trip the latch, as a thought if you took the arch liner out you might have better access.

Quick update, booked in next Friday to have bonnet looked at.

Thought I may as well take a look. Looks impossible from the front so I removed the release latch inside. Got some mole grips on the cable and hey presto open she popped!

Stripped the front again, reattached the intercooler hose that had popped off ahem. Checked the routing of the bonnet cable and made sure it was clear. All working 100%

I think the cable was caught behind the light and wasn't routed loosely enough.
