Question Am I being overly optimistic???

Hi,

I have MY11 XC60 D3 which seems a little lacklustre to say the least it runs out of puff about 90mph-ish and only manages 37.5 Mpg which seems low (my rattling Skoda 2.0TDI managed over 55mpg and it was f@@ked) am I being just thick xx. I’ve tried a few doses treatments but nothing seems to have changed. Any info or suggestions other than I should have bought a D4 will be muchly appreciated.

I don't think you're being overly optimistic. The D3 isn't underpowered, though it's far from generously endowed in that department, but I'd have expected a top speed well in excess of 100mph, probably 110? So it should still be pulling reasonably lustily at 90, IMHO. And I'd say 38mpg is probably a bit low, though that depends a lot on usage. It's probably not far off if it's all commuting in town, but somewhat off the pace if on a longer run. I'd look at things like blocked fuel filters, or leaks in the turbo/intercooler pipework.

It´s amazing how many people that don´t know what BSR is considering they have been in the tuning business for 30 years. en.bsr.se

Well it turns out the boost sensor was buggered so it’s now mid 40’s mpg and no acceleration issues….

Good that sounds more like it.

A lot of my car issues over the years have been sensor related - maf, alarm, air suspension.

Will be interesting to see what happens with self driving cars...

Nearly Polestar money for something that may get wiped if you ever take your car to a main dealer.
