Have you checked with your dealer, there are several versions of the AQS used in the XC90, ranging from sub £30 to almost £100 depending on the age/chassis number of your car ... worth a check you may be surprised either way

I had not considered that! I just need to get mine out to read the code off it first.

I had assumed they were all £££££ for what they are...

Not being totally anal, but I dont like any vehicle to be sitting with an unaddressed code....I may live to regret that statement however!

I did come across some content suggesting that they can be opened up and cleaned/restored - not specific to volvo but AQS in general... but I am not really convinced from what I have read - I think, like many sensors, they have a shelf life, and when its their time, its their time.

The code/part number may not actually be relevant, when I changed mine it turned out that there had been 5 revisions to my part number and the correct one was eventually tracked down by using the chassis number, but sods law, it turned out that mine was not the inexpensive one but the most expensive one, but got a substantial discount from FRF (who did the donkey work tracing the correct part) on purchase, once installed the climate which had been blowing freezing air at the passenger side was returned to normal operation.

Thats interesting and there are differing reports as to its influence on the normal operation of the heating/aircon.

The only "issue" we have with our heating is that it takes an age to warm up in winter if left idling - but will heat up within an mile or so of driving the car.....

I have changed the thermostat and of course flushed and replaced coolant to no effect.

To be honest, I have contacted my dealer before and they are not very helpful.
Do you know another approach?

The error code was CCM-0040.
Also, the air con doesn’t work.
Don’t know if that’s related
